A head of an elephant separated from its body was found in Kirindi Oya yesterday afternoon by local residents.
One ear and the trunk of the elephant’s head have been cut off and the local residents suspect that the animal may have been killed in another place and its body dismembered and its head dumped in Kirindi Oya.
Officials of the Wellawaya Wildlife Office are conducting investigations to find the remaining parts of the elephant’s body.
