An economics lesson for the central bank governor from Anura Kumara

According to National People’s Power Member of Parliament Anura Dissanayake, Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe intended to shrink the economy and, as a result, reduce purchasing ability. Anura Dissanayake asserts that when the amount of money in people’s hands decreases, the purchase of goods from the market also decreases.

He further stated that no central bank governor in the world is planning to shrink the economy. He explained that inflation is decreasing because people are spending less on goods, and if nobody purchases goods from the market, inflation can be brought down to zero. He also mentioned that the current depreciation of the dollar is artificial and its consequences will become evident soon.
