Engineer Deepta Chandana Jayasekara said that all the sluice gates have to be opened three feet at a time due to the overflow level of Ulhitiya-Rathkinda double reservoirs in Girandurukott belonging to Mahaweli C region.
He said that the sluice gates of the reservoirs will be opened from time to time to avoid exceeding the holding capacity level due to the rapidly rising water level and that the people should be especially careful about the risk announcements as it is dangerous to pass through the Rathkinda Strait during the opening.
