Accelerating militarization, former Navy Commander Admiral Daya Sandagirit joins S.J.B.

Daya Sandagiri, the retired 14th Naval Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, met opposition leader Sajith Premadasa and joined the Samagi Jana Balawega.

Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has taken steps to appoint him as an adviser on ocean and naval policies of Samagi Jana Balavega. Admiral Daya Sandagiri has vast knowledge and experience in maritime and naval field.

General Secretary of Samagi Jana Balavega Ranjith Madduma Bandara Harshana Rajakaruna and others attended the meeting held at the opposition leader’s office at Marcaus Fernando Mawatha in Colombo.

A fortnight ago, former Army Commander General Daya Rathnayake also joined the Samagi Jana Balawega and was also offered a consultant position by the opposition leader. Therefore, political sources say that a serious internal crisis has even been created in the Samagi Jana Balavega.

At present, both the Samagi Jana Balavega and the National peoples power are building warrior forces. Political sources say that due to that situation, the minority sections of the country are seriously moving away from those parties.
