MP Rajitha Senaratne said that there is a clear risk of losing the salary increases to be given to all public servants from January 1, 2025 if the current government program changes at any time and therefore public servants should be smart when voting by mail in the upcoming presidential election.
Attending a special press conference held at President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s political office at Mal Road, Colombo, the MP said that the results of the economic program carried out by the President in the last two years have been given to the public servants.
He said that the President has proven his promise to build the country when he becomes the Prime Minister in 2022.
“There are more than 14 lakh employees in the public service. This year, more than 7 lakh people are using postal voting. A historic decision was taken in the last cabinet meeting regarding the doubling of the basic salary and salary increase of the public service. Accordingly. , the cabinet has taken a decision on how to increase the salaries of the public service from January 1, 2025, so public servants should think about themselves and use their vote wisely,” he said.
