A young man among the university students who were swimming in the sea belonging to the artificial beach of Port City, Colombo has gone missing.
An investigation has been initiated based on a complaint received by the Colombo Port Police.
The missing person is a 24-year-old resident of Asgiriya, Gampaha.
A group of students from the University of Colombo and the University of Moratuwa were swimming in the sea wearing snorkels and observing the seabed yesterday (26) morning when one of the students went missing.
The snorkel he was wearing was later found by lifeguards.
The Colombo Port Police, the Navy Division divers and the Rangala Navy divers have jointly launched an operation to search for the missing person, and the Colombo Port Police are conducting further investigations.
