A strong earthquake has occurred in the Indian Ocean south of Galle, Sri Lanka. The US Geological Survey states that this earthquake, which occurred around 12.30 pm today, has a magnitude of 6.1 on the Richter scale.
The epicenter of this earthquake, which is said to have occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, is located 1317 kilometers from Tangalle and 1355 kilometers from Galle , according to the American Geological Survey.
The Bureau of Geological Survey and Mines declares that there has been no danger to Sri Lanka due to this earthquake.
