A statement from former minister Kanchana about fuel prices

Former Minister of Electricity and Power Kanchana Wijesekera says that the Ceylon Pertolium Corporation has nothing to do with other companies in the decision of the fuel price, and the previous government has not entered into any agreement to compensate them for the loss from the sale.

Posting a note on his Twitter account, he points out that Ceylon Pertolium Corporation can decide the price independently according to the price formula for determining fuel prices.

It also states that the corporation’s profit and loss should be reflected in the price formula, but only if the government approves a fuel subsidy and sells it to consumers at a price lower than the cost of production, (if it is given to consumers at a loss), the government is obliged to pay the loss from the treasury to all companies including the Pertolium corporation.
