The Police Headquarters has announced that steps have been taken to implement a special security program due to the Easter festival.
Since the Easter services of Christian devotees will be held on 2025.04.18 and 2025.04.20, it has been decided to deploy special police security for the safety of the devotees on those dates.
Acting Inspector General of Police Attorney-at-Law Priyantha Weerasuriya has given instructions to all provincial Senior Deputy Inspector Generals, Divisional Officers and all Police OICs in this regard.
The Acting Inspector General of Police has further instructed to identify churches where devotees are likely to visit in large numbers and ensure security in and around those places, and to pay more attention to churches where major services are held and take security measures.
It has been decided to deploy police officers, Special Task Force and tri-service officers on duty under this program.
