A protest demanding immediate implementation of educational reforms.

It is reported that a group of parents have started a continuous silent protest in front of the Ministry of Education demanding the re-implementation of the temporarily suspended educational reforms.

A group of parents organized as the Grade 06 Parents’ Association has started this protest. Our reporters say that the silent protest began this morning (19).

In addition, it is reported that protests have been organized in several areas including Polonnaruwa and Galle demanding the re-implementation of the temporarily suspended educational reforms.

However, the parents are protesting without proper understanding of the problems in the new education reform process, said Nimal Mudunkotuwa, Secretary of the Principals’ Grades Association.

Also, expressing his views on this, Venerable Yalwela Pannasekara Thero, President of the All Ceylon United Teachers’ Association, said that the problems that have arisen in this education reform process should be corrected and taken forward through new amendments.
