Harin Fernando, the Sri Lankan Tourism Minister, has been appointed as the Vice President of the South Asian Commission of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for the period from 2023 to 2025.
The announcement of Harin Fernando’s new position took place during the 59th meeting of the UNWTO Commission for South Asia (CSA) held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
In response to this appointment, Tourism Minister Harin Fernando expressed that Sri Lanka being granted the position of Vice President of the United Nations World Tourism Organization is evidence of the exceptional efforts and contributions made by the tourism industry.
