A minister is ready to resign because of the water issue in the Walawa Valley

Sports, Irrigation and Mahaweli Development Minister Roshan Ranasinghe has said that he is ready if the president asks him to resign from his ministerial post due to his comments on the issue of water supply to farming.

He said that water is needed firstly for drinking, secondly for farming and thirdly for other activities.

He said that if you have to buy electricity due to drought, it should be done now. it is pointless to buy electricity after destroying the crops without releasing water.

Meanwhile, the police managed to chase away a group of farmers from Walawa Valley who came from a rally demanding water.

He said that he will not change the position that the farmer should be given water first and he does not want to change it and see the government destroyed.
