It is reported that Dakshitha Sumathipala, president of Anuradhapura District Football Association, who submitted nominations for the post of president during the election of the Sri Lanka Football Association, and 04 other nominations from that side have been rejected.
The Football Selection Committee has approved only the remaining 08 nominations supporting Dakshitha, and thus the selection has created more advantages for Jaswar Umar’s side, say inside sources.
However, the Selection Committee has given the opportunity to the concerned candidates to submit appeals against the rejection of these nominations before the 3rd of next month.
Dakshitha Sumathipala, who was nominated for the post of chairman, T.L., who was nominated for the post of vice-chairman. Uduvara (Wattala League), Nalaka Dissanayake (Sri Lanka Schools), Nihal Perera (Wattala League) and Heshini Ariyaratne (Deniya League) who came forward for the women’s representation in the executive council have been rejected.
Reportedly, the reason for rejection of these nominations is that it has been confirmed that the affiliated football leagues have not been active for 04 years.
If Dakshitha’s appeals are rejected, former chairman Jaswar Umar will become the chairman unopposed and the other 04 key positions will also be unopposed.
