A A leopard caught in a trap in Fordyce Estate in Hatton has been killed and its head and legs have been cut off, according to officials from the Nallathanniya Wildlife Office.
Estate workers informed the Hatton Police on (18) that a dead A leopards body was found in a thicket in the estate. Accordingly, the police officers informed the Nallathanniya Wildlife Office officials in this regard.
When Hatton Police officers and Nallathanniya Wildlife Office officials found the ‘A leopards body, A leopards head and legs had been cut off by hunters, according to wildlife officials.
Th leopard was a well-grown tiger of about 10 years old. The post-mortem examination of the deceased tiger is scheduled to be conducted at the Randenigala Wildlife Veterinary Hospital.
