When Janaka Ratnakaya was the Chairman of the Public Utility Commission, it is reported that he had committed a financial misappropriation by paying a rent of 375,000 rupees for a luxury Mercedes Benz car.
This payment is a violation of the government’s financial regulations, the Inspector General has pointed out in the Committee on Public Business
The Auditor General has told the committee that the former chairman had illegally paid more than twenty lakh rupees for the car till the end of May last year.
In this regard, the committee has informed the deputy secretary of the treasury to report the measures taken under the financial regulations within two weeks. Also, steps have been taken to hand over the relevant information to the Criminal Investigation Department.
