A jackfruit tree falls on the railway track.

This morning, a 40-year-old jackfruit tree in a land located about 600 meters from Maharagama railway station towards Kottawa fell on the railway track.

While the train was running from Avissawella to Colombo at around 8 in the morning, this jackfruit tree, which was in a land near Maharagama Teachers College, fell on the railway track.

A train was scheduled to run towards Colombo less than 02 minutes after the jackfruit tree fell on the railway track. The gate guard, who was immediately activated, ran about 200 meters towards Kottawa and signaled to stop the train.

If the train had somehow come, there would have been a big accident as the train hit the tree that had fallen on the road. It is reported that within 30 minutes, the employees of the railway department and the police, with the help of the public, cut down the jackfruit tree and restored the railway line.
