The Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara gave a positive response to the request made by a group of representatives of the Sinhala Ravaya Organization including Akmeemana Dayarathana Thero, who came to the ministry requesting to digitize the field of foreign employment.
The delegation of the Sinhala Ravaya National Organization had come to the ministry without prior notice, but the minister stopped a discussion that was going on at that time and met the delegation.
“Foreign remittances brought by expatriate workers to the country is the way to bring the most foreign exchange to the country. When the expatriate worker faces problems at various times, there is no systematic program to manage them. That is why workers face many problems at different times. The solution to that is to digitize the field of foreign employment.
The minister gave a positive response and said that necessary steps are being taken to digitize the field of foreign employment.
Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Foreign Employment R.P.A. Wimalaweera also participated in this discussion and he said that 99 percent of these problems can be solved by digitizing the field of foreign employment. He said that he hopes to get the approvals related to the digitization of foreign jobs completed within a month or two.
