It is reported that a high level delegation of the International Monetary Fund is scheduled to visit the island today (02).
The team, headed by Krishna Srinivasan, Director of the International Monetary Fund’s Asia Pacific Department, is scheduled to stay in the country until October 4.
They are scheduled to meet President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and economic experts of the new government.
A spokesperson of the International Monetary Fund said that they will also discuss the new economic developments in Sri Lanka and the economic reforms under the Sri Lanka Economic Program implemented with the support of the International Monetary Fund.
Speaking at the news conference announcing the cabinet decision held yesterday (01), Cabinet Spokesman Minister Vijitha Herath said that only a preliminary discussion about the program of the financial fund will be conducted with the delegation of the financial fund.
He continued that a discussion on its structural issues is scheduled to be held in New York in late October.
