Bangladesh won the toss and invited Sri Lanka to bat first and scored 280 runs for their first innings. Dhananjayada Silva and Kamindu Mendis scored centuries for the Sri Lankan team in the first innings.
Then the Bangladesh team batted for their first innings and scored 188 runs while bowling Vishwa Fernando took 4 wickets, Kasun Rajitha and Lahiru Kumara took 3 wickets for the Sri Lankan team.
The Sri Lankan team was ahead by 93 runs and batted for their second innings, the Sri Lankan team scored 418 runs and gave the Bangladesh team a huge target of 511 runs.
