Due to the sudden failure of the high pressure heater system of the second generator of the Norochchole thermal power plant, the generator has to be shut down from today (17) night.
Ceylon Electricity Board has mentioned this by issuing a special announcement.
The announcement further states that the staff of the power plant has already started the necessary preliminary work to repaired the plant
Also, the maintenance work of the third generator of this power plant has been completed and its test runs are currently being carried out.
Accordingly, this third generator can be directed to produce electricity very soon, it is stated in the announcement.
Due to this, the electricity supply will not be interrupted, and the Ceylon Electricity Board will work to continuously supply electricity by producing hydroelectric power to the maximum during this maintenance period.
