To help the families of the Sri Lankan family members killed in Canada last Wednesday, the Buddhist Federation of Canada has started an online fundraiser launched on Friday. The goal is to raise $200,000 for the family members.
As of yesterday afternoon, the fund has exceeded 130000 dollars, which is approximately 3 crores in Sri Lanka Rupees. According to the report, a lot of money has been given to this fund including Sri Lankans from Canada and some people have donated around 1000 dollars.
Financial assistance to the families of the victims is being coordinated through the local Buddhist temple (Buddhist Federation of Canada, 1481 Heron Rd., Ottawa, ON K1V 6A6).
