A discussion has been held among the security authorities regarding the project to release private lands in the Jaffna-Palali area under the security forces. The Ministry of Defense states that during this discussion held at the Parliament premises, attention was paid to the redrawing and finalization of land boundaries, determining the priority land areas to be released and finding solutions to the administrative obstacles related to it.
Deputy Minister of Defense Retired Major General Aruna Jayasekara, Minister Ramalingam Chandrasekar, Deputy Minister Janitha Ruwan Kodituwakku and Defense Secretary Retired Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuiyakontha were present for this discussion.
The Ministry of Defense states that attention was paid to establishing a fair process that would ensure that the lands with legal rights are returned to their owners without damaging essential security infrastructure.
