It has been decided to prepare and implement the national physical plan at the provincial level. Accordingly, Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said that the purpose of this is to update the development activities to suit the specific conditions of each province.
The Minister said that the preparation of the National Physical Plan of Eastern and Central Provinces has already started and in addition, the National Plan of Uva Province will be prepared soon.
The National Physical Planning Department has prepared the “National Physical Plan” in terms of the Town and Village Planning Ordinance No. 13 of 1946 as amended by Act No. 49 of 2000. Minister Prasanna Ranatunga further said that national physical plans are prepared at the provincial level based on this national physical plan.
