A cricket ban for Sri Lanka due to the crisis between the sports minister and the Sri Lanka Cricket.?

According to the report, ICC CEO Jeff Alladis has sent a letter to Sri Lanka Cricket. It is said that it has been informed by this letter that Sri Lanka may lose the ICC annual conference to be held in 2024 and the hosting of several international tournaments due to the conflicts of opinion that have arisen between the Sri Lanka Cricket Institute and Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe.

Sri Lanka Cricket’s internal sources say that this situation may arise if the Sri Lanka Cricket Institute fails to confirm and show its independence.

Sri Lanka has been given the primary hosting of the 2024 Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup, the 2026 Men’s Twenty20 World Cup and the Women’s Twenty20 World Cup in 2027. The ICC has said in its letter that if the tournament is to be held in Sri Lanka, it should confirm that the elected Sri Lanka Cricket Association will receive support free of influence from the government.
