A court order to evict the State Minister from the house where he was residing forced

The Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court yesterday ordered that the house in the Lindula Henfold Estate, where the Minister of State for Education Arvind Kumar is residing illegally, be handed over to the estate authorities.

Originally owned by an estate management company, the house was assigned to Kumar as his official residence in 1987 when he was employed as an estate clerk.

However, the estate authorities filed a case before the court alleging that Kumar was illegally staying in the house even after leaving the estate.

They claim that Kumar is forcibly residing in the house using his political power.
