The Court of Appeal has issued an interim injunction ordering the suspension of the proceedings before the Colombo High Court against Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawakata regarding a car accident that occurred in the Rajagiriya area in 2016.
The court order states that this interim order will remain in effect until the hearing of this petition is over. The court has issued these orders allowing the hearing of a petition submitted by Patali Champika Ranawaka.
The decision of the Attorney General to file two cases against the petitioner on the same charge was determined to be a legal issue and the relevant interim order was issued. The hearing of the petition was scheduled to begin on March 4 next year.
