National People’s Power (NPP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said, that there is a conflict of opinion between the Rajapaksas and the President about whether the presidential election or the general election will be held first. He said this while addressing the Colombo District Women’s Conference held at Homagama yesterday.
He mentioned that although the Rajapaksas want to hold the general election first, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided to hold the presidential election first.
He further to said that since the United National Party does not have strong support at the grassroots level, the President prefers the presidential election to be held first rather than the general election, and the Rajapaksas prefer a general election because there is no leader to present in the presidential election.
