A complaint to the Election Commission about the nurses who went to a JVP meeting in uniform

The CAFE said that the presence of nurses in their uniforms for the “National All Ceylon Nursing Conference” held yesterday (28th) at Maharagama National Youth Service Council Auditorium under the leadership of the leader of the National People’s Force, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, is a violation of the election laws. The organization has complained to the Chairman of the Election Commission.

Manas Makeen, executive director of Cafe organization, says that the presence of nurses in uniform is an opportunity to use public property for party politics.

It has been stated in the relevant article that nursing service professional uniform is a privilege given to that profession at the expense of public money, and using that uniform for political purposes in such a situation is a wrongdoing according to the institution code and according to the election law.

The executive director of the Cafe organization states that although any person as a citizen of a country has the right to stand up for his professional rights and the ability to stand up for any political right, it is illegal and unethical for government employees to wear professional uniforms and engage in those actions.
