A complaint to the Bribery Commission against Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe

A complaint has been filed with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against Trade Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe today (June 30). Several civil society organizations have filed this complaint, alleging that a fraud worth billions of rupees has been committed in the import of salt.

Representatives of these organizations point out that a kilogram of salt, which was imported for about Rs. 75, is currently being sold in the market for a high price of Rs. 320. In view of this situation, they further emphasize that a large-scale financial fraud has been committed through the import of salt.
