A committee to listen to the grievances of the principals.

A committee has been appointed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Susil Premajayantha, to formally examine the long-standing service problems and shortcomings of the Sri Lanka Principal Service and report prompt solutions.

The committee consisting of five experts in the fields of education and administration, including Professor Gunapala Nanayakkara, advisor to the Ministry of Education, has already started its work. All the Principals’ Associations have received their proposals and have given time till 9th of May to present the most important points.

The chairman said that arrangements have been made to hold interviews with union organizations from May 15 and he intends to inquire from experts and experts in the field of education and to go to the provincial zonal offices and some selected schools to find out the current situation regarding the principal’s role.

The minister has advised here to propose measures to strengthen the principal’s service by applying the proposed education reforms. The committee report is scheduled to be submitted within the next two months.
