It has been reported that various irregularities have occurred in the provision of financial assistance to religious places and various activities by the Central Cultural Fund during the period from 2017 to 2020.
The Minister in charge of the subject during that period was the current Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.
It was decided at the 223rd meeting of the Central Cultural Fund Governing Board held on 2025-05-17 to appoint a committee to investigate the alleged irregularities.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal submitted by the Hon. Prime Minister to appoint a three-member committee headed by retired High Court Judge G.M.W. Pradeep Jayathilake for the relevant task.
