It is reported that one inmate died when a Bo tree branch fell on a building in the Matara Prison in the Matara Police Division on the night of yesterday (01).
12 people injured in this incident have been admitted to the Matara Hospital. One inmate died while receiving treatment there. The deceased is a resident of the Turki village in Midigama.
The accident occurred when a branch of a Bo tree fell near the building where the inmates were being held. The Matara Police are conducting further investigations into this incident.
