Former MP Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara says that in 2016, then Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa revealed in Parliament that 37 members of four Sri Lankan families had gone to Syria for ISIS training, and that MP Mujibur Rahman denied it, saying it was a hate speech.
However, he said that Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa’s statement was later confirmed and that the Easter attacks could have been prevented if Mujibur Rahman and his group had not obstructed the investigation into the matter, and therefore Mujibur Rahman is directly responsible for the Easter attacks.
