Professor Wasantha Athukorala of Peradeniya University’s Department of Economics and Statistics states that approximately 7.5 million people in this country are facing severe food insecurity.
This information was revealed in a recent study conducted jointly by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Professor Wasantha Athukorala further explained that the food security in this country has decreased compared to the year 2019.
