According to the report, at least 69 people have died in an earthquake that occurred in Nepal last night. Officials say the death toll may rise further depending on the condition of those trapped in the debris and the injured and hospitalized.
Nepalese sources say that the number of injured can be high because most people were sleeping when the earthquake struck at midnight yesterday.
The earthquake struck at 11:47 pm (6.02 pm GMT) in Jajarkot district of Karnali province, 310 miles (500 km) west of the capital Kathmandu. Nepal’s National Seismological Center said it had a magnitude of 6.4, while the US Geological Survey (USGS) put it at 5.6.
