Deputy Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Ruwan Senarath says that there are plans to import 2000 cabs for heads of state institutions early next year.
He said that various projects have also been initiated to eradicate rural poverty and that many new projects have been initiated to activate the activities of inactive local government institutions.
The Deputy Minister, who further commented on this, said:
“In order to implement development projects at the grassroots level, we need to create opportunities for the heads of local government institutions to go to the village level. We need opportunities for officials to go and come. We need vehicles. We need machinery. That is why we have taken a decision that the new government will import 2000 cabs in the first quarter of next year for transportation facilities not only within local government institutions but also for the heads of every institution in this country.”
