20 killed in Afghanistan earthquake

A 6.0-magnitude earthquake has struck eastern Afghanistan. At least 20 people have been killed, and the death toll could rise as many of the injured are in critical condition, according to foreign media.

More than 100 injured have already been admitted to hospitals. The damage has been made more serious since the earthquake struck at a moderate depth. Foreign media reported, citing various sources in the Taliban government, that dozens of houses have collapsed and that a large number of people are trapped under them.

The Taliban government has asked humanitarian aid organizations to assist in rescue operations. The earthquake has made access to remote mountainous areas difficult, and some areas are only accessible by air due to landslides and flooding, according to reports.
