State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Geeta Kumarasinghe said that 168 girls under 16 years of age have been abused and 22 of them are pregnant.
Commenting further, the Minister of State said, “168 children under the age of 16 have been raped within a month from 01.09.2023 to 30.09.2023. Most of them have been molested by relatives. Accordingly, it appears that they are insecure even in their own family environment.
