The amount of compensation to be paid by the government for the houses and properties of parliamentarians burnt by the protesters has increased to 1414 million rupees.
Due to the violence that took place during the period of the struggle from March 31 to July 22, 2022, the houses and properties of many members of parliament of the then ruling party were burnt and destroyed.
31 Members of Parliament whose properties were damaged in this way have been given an amount of 714 million rupees as full compensation. Apart from that, it has been decided to pay full compensation to 13 other parliamentarians and the estimated amount for those 13 parliamentarians is 700 million rupees. Accordingly, it is reported that another amount of 200 million rupees will be required to provide full compensation for damages.
In addition to this, the government has given 519 million rupees as a percentage of damages to 73 local politicians and civil citizens who were not members of parliament whose property was destroyed during the struggle.
