Electricity bill crisis before the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court ordered to call on August 04 to consider an appeal petition filed against the increase in electricity tariffs, seeking to nullify the decision taken by the Court of Appeal to dismiss the writ petition without hearing it.

This petition was called before the three-member Supreme Court bench led by Justice Murdu Fernando.

The respective appeal petitions had been filed by the Electricity Consumers Union and Environmental Justice Centre. Public Utilities Commission, Ceylon Electricity Board and others have been named as respondents.
