Dismisses Sumandiran’s petition against the Online Bill.

The Supreme Court today (29) decided to dismiss the fundamental rights petition submitted by President’s Councilor M.A .Sumandhiran, seeking to rule that the manner in which the Act on Security of Online Methods was passed was against the law.

This decision was announced when the petition was heard before a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court consisting of Justices Priyantha Jayawardene, Shiran Gunaratne and Achala Vengappuli.

Councilor Sumandhiran had submitted this petition asking for a ruling that the bill has not been legally passed due to the fact that the amendments presented by the Supreme Court were not included in it.
