Chaminda Wijesiri, Badulla District Member of Parliament of Samagi Jana Balawega, has resigned from his parliamentary position. According to political sources, Chaminda Wijesiri resigned from his position as opposition leader Sajith Premadasa continued to ignore him.
It is reported that the actions of opposition leader Sajith Premadasa are creating a serious crisis in the party and his decision to appoint Dylan Perera, who recently joined the party, as Badulla district leader is the immediate reason behind Chaminda Wijesiri’s resignation. Chaminda Wijesiri strongly protested this within the party,
Chaminda Wijesiri made a special statement in Parliament today and said that he made the decision based on his heart and handed over the letter of resignation from her position to the Secretary General of Parliament.
It was further stated that no matter what the parliamentary laws and traditions are, those laws are not being implemented properly and it is a matter that needs to be brought to attention again.
In his farewell speech, MP Chaminda Wijesiri said that there is no confidence in the current parliament and that the current government should take measures to build it.
