Mahinda Kodithuvakku, who appeared under the name Avalokiteshwara, was remanded until January 24 when he was produced in court today (16). The suspect was arrested yesterday (15) by the officers of the Computer Crime Investigation Division in Pannipitiya area.
This person has returned to this country from Egypt on the 1st and since then he has been going to various places and giving lectures. Here, the videos showing how the followers who participated in the lectures were paying homage to him were also circulated on social media.
Various parties including the Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs have complained to the Criminal Investigation Department that the character of Buddha and Buddhist religious teachings are denigrated through his lectures.
