Secretary General Sagara Kariyawasam states that if the Secretary of the Ministry of Finance announces the period for which money can be given to the election, the minister has legal provisions to extend the time of the local government bodies until then.
Commenting on this, Rohana Hettiarachchi, executive director of Pafferal organization, says that there is no possibility of extending the time of local government bodies in the existing legislation.
