A wildlife officer was killed in a wild elephant attack

According to the report, an officer who went to drive away wild elephants in Padikaramaduwa area, Galenbindunuwewa, died after being attacked by an elephant.

P.B.J Wijekoon, a chief officer of the Ritigala Wildlife Office, has died. He is a father of two and a resident of Matale.

The wild elephants that came to Dikwewa area of Galenbindunuwewa yesterday (28) afternoon had destroyed many cultivated fields in the area and the civil defense officers joined forces with the local residents to drive away the wild elephants.

Also, the wild life officers have also joined the operation and at that time the attack will have taken place.
