During the dispute between the doctors and junior staff members of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital yesterday, the specialist cancer surgeon who is said to have assaulted a maid has been arrested.
A spokesperson of the Galle Police said that the hospital police received a complaint that the assault took place after an altercation that took place in the hospital premises yesterday.
The doctor accused of assault is currently in police custody and is undergoing treatment in a private hospital.
