Sudath Chandrasekara, a former advisor to the Sports Ministry, mentions that former Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe secretly met Shammi De Silva, the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, during his tenure.
He said that Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe that he should meet Shammi Silva during his ministerial tenure, and accordingly he met Roshan and Shammi Silva twice at his home secretly . He ferther to said that these meetings were held secretly by Arjuna and said that Arjuna Ranatunga wanted to dissolve the cricket organization and become the chairman of the Interim Board.
According to the Sports Act, members of the National Sports Council cannot hold positions in other sports clubs, but Arjuna Ranatunga was working as a member of the executive committee of the S.S.C. Sports Club while he was the president of the National Sports Council. Accordingly, Sudath Chandrasekara points out that the Sports Minister violated the Sports Act by appointing Arjuna Ranatunga to the Sports Council.
He praised that Arjuna Ranatunga was the one who cut the names from the records of sports associations participating in foreign tours, but the minister should take the decision about the names of the officials of the sports associations participating in foreign tours.
