A new law for internet businesses coming soon.

Trade, Commerce and Food Safety Minister Nalin Fernando said today in the Parliament that although internet businesses are common in Sri Lanka, there are no laws in the country to curb their irregularities.

He also mentioned that steps will be taken to present a new bill through the Consumer Affairs Authority to protect consumers who are inconvenienced due to this.

“Online businesses have increased all over the world. The situation in Sri Lanka is also the same. But we do not have enough laws in Sri Lanka to act on the complaints of consumers about online businesses. We hope to draft a bill through the Consumer Authority and submit it to Parliament soon,” he said. .
