A fine of 1500 rupees was imposed on those who stole president’s conch shell during the struggle

On 07/09/2022, when the activists set fire to the private residence of President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Flower Road, Colombo, a person who stole a metal conch shell was found guilty before the Mt. Magistrate’s Court.

Supun Hansaka, a resident of Boralasgamuwa, admitted his guilt. The court sentenced him to one year’s hard labor for trespassing and theft, suspended for five years. In addition, the court imposed a fine of Rs.1500/- on him.
