Colombo’s buildings are at risk due to frequent earthquakes

The former professor of Peradeniya University, Atula Senaratne, said that due to the earthquakes that occur not far from Sri Lanka, huge buildings in Colombo are in a dangerous situation.

Prof. Senaratne says that the recent earthquake that occurred in the south-eastern sea area of Sri Lanka has been felt in many parts of the country, especially the Colombo area and the Western Province have felt this shock, so the safety of high-rise buildings in Colombo should be taken care of.

He emphasized that because of this situation, attention should be paid to tall buildings and security measures should be taken considering their condition or they may have to be removed from use.
